The New Moon of December 18 falls in the fiery sign of Sagittarius. It is also the last lunar cycle of 2017.
To use the cosmic energy of this period, as well as to prepare for the year that follows, this New Moon ritual is designed to be completed over 7-days.
You may start this ritual at any time, but to embrace and harness the energy of the New Moon, we recommend that you start on the 18th.

New Moon Ritual Day 1 — Intention
Take a pen, paper, and your favorite crystal.
Over the course of 7 days, you will be clearing and releasing the past and welcoming the new. All of us have been reborn in some way this year. It is also important to honor where we are, as well as embrace the current season of our lives.
We are doing this so that we can enter 2018 with a clean slate. Not fall into the trap of repeating certain habits, patterns, and behaviors.
When you are thinking of your intention for this 7-day ritual, know that there are no limitations. Take a moment and clear your mind. Get still with yourself. Hold your favorite crystal and meditate. Or just breathe deeply for 10 to 30 minutes.
Here is an example how you can start:
My intention over the following seven days is to let go of past regrets, to forgive myself for all that I did and I didn’t do. I would like to clear these regrets, replace them with hope for the future. I also want to feel inspired and energized so that I could make the next year a good year.
Once you have your intention written down, place your hand over your heart and repeat the intention three times followed by “Thank you.”
Place it where you can see it daily for the following seven days alongside your crystal.
New Moon Ritual Day 2 — Purge
You will need a pen, paper, your favorite crystal, a candle, and timer.
This ritual can be best done as a first thing in the morning or last thing before going to bed.
Find a quiet place. Light the candle. Sit holding your crystal in your hand.
Once you feel calm, get your pen and paper and write at the top of the page —“Here is what I want to release from my life…”
Set the timer for about 20 minutes and then start writing whatever comes to your mind. The goal is not to lift the pen off the page.
After 20 minutes, pause and reflect on any feelings or emotions which have been stirred for you. Make a note of all those things you wish to release.
When you are ready, take your papers and write:
I am ready to let go of everything, and I am ready for the new. I am ready to purge all of this, and so it is true. Angels and higher self from above, please guide me to release those things from my life. Please guide me in the right direction, so that I would find peace from all the things that no longer serve.
Then, start ripping up the paper as a sign which you are ready and willing to release all of your life.
Holding the crystal once again, sit comfortably and take about ten deep breaths in and out. As you do this, you may bring your gaze to the candle in front of you or close your eyes and visualize a brilliant white light.
New Moon Ritual Day 3 — Cleanse
You will need the following things: sage/other smudging tools.
This ritual will work best if your house is clean.
Before you start, be sure that you have a door or window open. Take your sage or the other smudging tools, and start cleansing your aura. When you wave the smoke around your body repeat, or you can also write:
I’m cleansing, as well as purifying my body, my mind, and soul. I am cleansed, as well as renewed.
After that, go around your entire home and cleanse everything using that smudging tool. Then, repeat the following mantra:
I cleanse my space, as well as purify my surroundings. My space is cleansed, as well as renewed.
Once you have cleansed these surroundings, meditate for about 10 to 30 minutes, basking in the beautiful fresh energy.
New Moon Ritual Day 4 — Forgiveness
You will need a mirror, pen, as well as paper and a timer.
First of all, you should sit in a comfortable position with your mirror and timer nearby.
Then, set your timer for about 20 minutes and just write whatever is on your mind, allow your subconscious to take over.
Once the 20 minutes are over, reflect what you have written and honor any emotions which may be lingering. Observe without judgment.
As soon as you identify those areas, you will be working on forgiving yourself for every one of them. By looking yourself in the mirror, repeating the following:
I forgive you.
Do this at least 10 minutes.
Forgive yourself for all of it.
Give yourself a big hug and repeat the following:
I love you. Thank you. I love you.
You just need to be gentle with yourself for the rest of the day. Also, remember to drink a lot of water and get a good night of rest.
New Moon Ritual Day 5 — Purify
You will need a pen, paper, and your favorite crystal.
Start by repeating your intention to yourself. Perhaps, you should observe the progress that you have made or the new space which is now opening up in your life.
Take your crystal, lie down and place it over your third eye — just follow your instincts.
Take about 3 to 5 deep breaths just to still your mind. Now, you are going to take yourself on a guided meditation with the help of your crystal. Think about the color of the crystal, as well as the shape. Visualize it in your mind.
When you have a clear vision, imagine the crystal floating just an inch or so above the top of your head.
See if you can visualize the current of energy moving from the top of your head all the way through your body and out at the ends of your feet.
See the crystal moving around the outside of your body, as well as around the neck, your arms, torso, etc. Then, watch the crystal running around the outside of your body the color and energy which is soaking into your body.
New Moon Ritual Day 6 — Self Love
You will need just a mirror.
Read over your intention and acknowledge any progress you have made over the last several days.
Look yourself in the mirror. Then, place your hand on your shoulder and repeat the following:
You are worthy, and you deserve to be loved. I love you, and you are worth it.
After that, take your hand and place it on your other shoulder, and repeat the same mantra. Remember to look at yourself in the eyes as you are saying that.
Then, wrap your arms around yourself and repeat the mantra for one more time. With the arms still wrapped around yourself, repeat the following:
I promise to love you and look after you. I love you.
New Moon Ritual Day 7 — Gratitude
You will need pen and paper.
The final day of this ritual is here. Take your intention, and reflect on how far you have come.
Then, take your favorite crystal and sit comfortably. Take about ten breaths just to still your mind.
You may choose writing down the thoughts you have or just state them to yourself.
Ask yourself the following:
– What are the three experiences that I feel the most thankful for this year?
– Who are the five people that I feel most grateful to have in my life?
– What am I most grateful for in 2017?
Then, you may try completing the following sentences:
– I feel fortunate because….
– I am so happy when….
– In 2018, I want to feel….
Once you finish with this, place your hands into prayer position and thank yourself, and your angels, your guides and your higher self.
Then, you are done!
